dash lights not working
hey guys i installed a kenwood radio in the car last week and just a couple days ago noticed that when i turn my lights on my dash dosent illuminate. and both the left and right turn signals are light. i thoguht it might have been a wiring issue that i did when i changed the head unit but i re installed the stock one and same problem, i checked ever fuse and they all checked out anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
thanks in advance
ps. i searched already

pull out the intire area. disconect the after market and r stock head unit. then get a light look all in the area back there. i have seen people push them in and cut a wire or gie it a "scratch" and that could be the caus eo foyu problem, or maby your battery may have gotten fucked but i duno how it would have

1. Did you use a Wiring Harness or splice all the wires in?
2. I would check both sides of the fuses with a test light just incase. Sometimes the fuses look ok but are not.
3. Always disconnect the battery when working on anything electrical
(For Future Reference) Could have been worse....

I have the EXACT same problem in my 2001 Civic EX! All fuses are good. I checked them with a tester. I did not see any loose, cut, pinched wires. But the thing that confuses me is that 2 times now the lights would come on after i hit a hard bump and would stay on for a little while and then go back off. My rear defrost don't work either, until the dash worked. the light for the rear defrost would come on but it did not work till the bump. But I cant seem to find anything. I was thinking it is a bad ground someplace. Another thing is my aftermarket radio has a dimmer on it and it dims when I turn the lights on. My odometer lights up and i can control the dimmer on that which is weird cause I thought that controls the rest of the dash too... Any help would be great. I just bought this car from a private person about a month ago and they had the same problem the whole time they owned the car

Where to start...
Well, you could have checked the FAQ's for the tutorial on replacing the bulbs for the dash lights: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2201110
The reason the lighting dims on the stereo when you turn on the interior lighting, is because the interior lighting requires a certain amount of current draw and your aftermarket head unit seems to be drawing a certain percentage of that. So, the electrical power is spread until both the aftermarket head unit and the interior lighting is equally satisfied. And, you don't notice a luminescence change on the interior lighting, because it wasn't on to begin with, unlike the head unit. You could try and change the alternator for more electrical power, or getting a new battery might help.

THe bulbs are fine. Last weekend when I took the entire dash apart I checked the bulbs and they are fine. I tried my lights when I took the my cd player out with the same result. New battery installed and alternator is fine.
I really dont want to taake it to the honda dealership and pay big $$$ for them to tell me that they dont know why.
