Default Honda Navigation System Question!

Hello Everyone. I tried the search function and did not find what i was looking for. The situation is: I just won an auction on ebay for the navigation system with the dash kit included. The system does not include anything.. no wires, no harness, no cd and no codes. Can anyone tell me or guide me in the right direction to proceed with a retrofit. I dont know too much about cars so i was hoping i could purchase all the required tools and wires and then bring it to Firedog (Circuit City) or some local Pep boys to complete the installation. I have a Civic Sedan LX if that helps. Thanks in advance!

Phil

you cannot have circuit city do the install NOR 'firedog'
the installation is VERY involved and actually MORE difficult since you do not have the ex model and you will also need the amp for the EX sound system in addition to about 500 in extra parts ( harness, disc, antenna etc etc )

BTW is this unit the one from arizona?

You cannot even TURN IT ON if you did hook it up correctly without the code.

If you are nice enough i'll give you the code for that unit since i already made some calls and obtained it.

Hey Type X, thanks for the quick response. I did not know it was this much involved. Are there any installation experts in the Philly/NJ or NY area that would not mind doing the install for a fee? It looks like i need a lot of help and will be on this forum for a while...
and yes.. the unit is from Arizona. How did you get the code for it? I would appreciate it greatly if you could provide that for me.

Phil

I know someone that would do the labor on the install in Staten Island NY for 350.
However keep in mind that you don't even know if the unit is functional.

I purchased the first used one on ebay back in january of 06 and it was delivered and everything but INTERNALLY it was damaged and useless. LUCKILY i was able to sell it to a member that broke his screen.

I ended up doing the retrofit in my civic with a brand new unit from honda .

This entire thing is going to end up costing you in the upper 1700 range.(with the 550 you already spent.

Harness
Antenna
Steering controls
Microphone
Labor for install
trims for steering
custom wiring for running mic
amp & wiring
Subwoofer
etc

I obtained the code from a close friend. & also might have a navi dvd

i would be that person as long as you have all of the parts i will be willing to do the work. send me a PM or email(email is prefered webmaster@rbf351.com) and i will get you a list of parts you will need to order before the install takes place. if you have the connectors from the back of the unti it will save you alot of cash

Rbf351 above is the contact

You cannot test ANYTHING

1. without the code
2. without a harness.

DO NOT try to plug anything electrical into that unit unless you know which pins do what. you will fry the unit in seconds

What's required to get a navi into a non-navi Si?

Navi unit
Harness
Antenna
Mic
Front bezel

Am I missing anything else?

I'm interested in doing a non-navi to navi swap also, but does anyone know if the navi unit will still function normally without the mic and steering contorols? I really only want the navi part of it, and maybe XM.
