I just lost reverese! how much for a bearing and synchro kit???
How much would it cost to buy a synchro and bearing kit for a ys1 tranny?
About how much would it cost to repair if I brought someone the tranny?

i have been looking and cant find exactly what i need. can anyone shed some light on the situation, or even point in the general direction. It would very much appreciated. thank you
Reverse typically doesn't have a syncro. Surprisingly, it's even in the basic owners manual for my civic.
Reverse is square cut, so it'll definitely grind if the input shaft is still rotating. that's why putting it in a different gear first usually prevents the grinding....it uses the other gear's syncros to slow it down and/or gives enough time for it to stop spinning.

no worries man if the labour is around there go for it just make sure they know what thrusts and clearances to check for...all the tools are explained in the service manual most of the tools though are commercially available...but honda still tries to make them look special you can make some too theyre simple designs...i know i couldnt charge that 400$ for a tranny rebuild too much inspection and measurements for that cheap of price to spec everything out a shop will charge around a solid g where i live...good luck comrade
Thanks Ill need it...
I found a good place for "honda/acura" but they want 1400.00
I found another place that does a really good job on imports in general and they Only want 350 plus parts but I cant get a "real" or even close price on ALL of the parts I need. do you have any idea on how much (rough estimate) everything would be as far parts needed for a rebuild plus reverse synchro?

my friend i couldnt tell you a rough estimate depending on how old a transmission is and how it was treated you have to check for many tolerances countershaft, main shaft runout, gear thicknessess, synchro teeth conditions, seals, bearings etc...these things have to be taken apart and checked thoroughly on what needs replacing and what doesnt and even then some components need to be replaced in sets like synchro hubs with sleeves...i just hope the shop you take it to can be trusted with these sorts of things because the shops around here you cant trust people around here with japanese engineering...there is a reason why gearspeed charges so much they stand by their work im not trying to promote business there im just saying how much time and sweat it takes to fully spec out and rebuild a honda trans...dont know what else to tell ya man...
well where i am going they offer a 2-year 30k mile warranty.
about how much does a new FD cost? (just for the part)
about how much would a close ratio 1:1 5th gear cost? (just for the part?)

i have no idea about prices off the top of my head...lol that would be insane but the warranty sounds good though try that place out...if theyre good then theyre good only time will tell...
