Default H23A1 Disctruction Pictures

Well a couple of years ago my beloved prelude came to a halt. Here's what happens when you do 100 mph without oil...

isnt the stud pressed in????

Oil Bridge broken

Oil baffle plate. When i took the pan off, the 2 parts of the rod still connected by the bent stud were shoved into the 2 holes. The bolt right next to the holes didnt break but the when the pieces flew off, it broke the bridge where the baffle bolts too.

tore up counter shaft

Gouged and Ozidized crank journal.

#3 cylinder gouged.... and last but not least.....

tore up block.

Now the moral of this story is to make sure you trust your mechanic, or do the work yourself. At 16 years old i didnt fell like changing oil so a local minute-lube place that changed the oil didnt tighten the oil filter. Now that i dropped a different motor, i decided to tear this one apart to recycle the aluminum, might get alittle cash for it... decided to post the pics here. The amazing thing is that after that, i drove home, about 15-20 miles away. Looking at the other crank journals and mains, it looks just like it should. I love Honda engineering.

Wow, thanks for sharing the pictures. Did you get an oil light before it tossed the rod?

Eh! Nothing that a little Gorilla Glue and zip ties wouldn't fix......

Never trust those 18yo idiots at quick lube places....almost lost a trans because of them!
