Hi! Long time reader but first time poster! (now with spelling errors!)
Hi everyone, Long time reader but first time poster. I thought I would introduce myself...finally
I am a proud owner of a 2003 Honda Civic LX
It's your simple basic Civic, d17 engine. No v-tec, No AC, Wind up windows. Say what you want but I love it.
Plan's in the Future? I dunno we will see, Just the sound system for now.
the story short version: I had a mustang but gas price's are like taking a spoon to my eyes and gouging them out, It was breaking down (I hate ford) a b*tch to tune so I said time for a new car.
The story long version: I owned a Mercury Capri when I was 16 years old. it was a 4 cyl that I beat the living snot out of. well one night sometime later I barly made it home to the driveway. I looked at the ground and saw something leaking. I decided to taste test it and bent over and tasted it. it was the worst taste ever. That's when I thought "Oh ****. Thats ******* gross." and realised it wasn't from the car yet from the garbage truck this morning. It had me baffald on what happened. I tore the engine right down to the pistons and said hell with it and decided to put in a 5L. Well that went so far but I decided to scrap the project that was taking too long and get something newer in the meantime of the project. This is when I got a Ford ranger. BIGGEST P.O.S ever. I hated it. I will never buy ford again. After 5 people hit my big red truck in parking lots. (No I am not joking.) i decided to once again spend money on the Capri. Well sold the truck and after about a month of paint and engine switch over. It went very smooth and well. I drove it, no complaints. Well just about two months ago she started misfireing, The carb started to dump gas into the chambers and flooding it out. Finally Biased as I was against "new tech" and Computer cars, I mostly hated Civic's. I hated them because of the bad image that kids gave them. (Those "mustang killa" wigga gansta's) I was searching for a new car (I was originally looking for a eclipse GSX) when I came across the car dealership lot. My father said "Hey, Drew there's a couple of honda's in there" and I said "No way....ah what the hell lets stop in" I pulled up to my Civic and right away said "That's the one"
I suppose Transformers is right, Car chooses driver. Driver don't choose the car.

sounds like you've had quite the experience, hopefully your new car doesn't give you the headaches you used to.
you're definitely right about the "image" we have, it sucks but i'm sure the mustang group has the 2% that ruins it for the rest of them - it's the same with us.
your motor is a D17 by the way, read the FAQ before asking questions, make sure you learn to use the search button (check the archives too). i'm sure you're going to get an itch to make your car faster - your two choices are to turbo the stock motor or swap it for a K-series motor.
with that said, welcome! we're a big close happy family (for the most part) in this forum (2001-2005 civic), once in a while we get idiots but they will fade into the background ...eventually
got any questions, be sure to ask someone but not before searching.

Whoops I apologise. D17 I meant not B. Yeah I see alot of that People don't research and it's the most bothersome to your guys. I'll try for sure to Research. I most like to learn things on my own though and will try to post picture's of whatever I do for DIY.
Well. I would dif go K-series. I hear it's the hoppin motor to be around now and wave of the new world of tomorrow. But if I were to swap..I would build it up slowly and go all out. Port n polish, Open up the valve's and perhaps throw in a lumpy cam into it, drop it to about 9.1:8 Compression ratio and throw some boost onto it. Hell if I were to do that I would most likly 25 shot of nos to spool up the turbo with short stroke pistons.
But then again...I'm all just talk. Old mustang boy here
P.s Protip: most mustang guys are not just "wigga's". 80% of them seem cocky "my car will beat yours" now-a-days...It's sad.
Anyways, I'll go take a few picture's now.

Well, with a K-series, you're going to have 2 cams.
Trust me on this, when you take a turn, you'll be thankful it's not a Mustang.
