Default Some advice on a possible purchase......

Someone is offering me a 98 lude in the grayish color (Cool color). His asking price is $4000 but the manual tranny is shot. He said he can get it replaced and installed for an additional $400. Also, there is a new engine installed with about 80,000 miles on it but the actual odometer reads 200k.

What do ya'll think? Should I go for it or is this a possible lemon?

unless the new engine is JDM check the vin# on it, by running a carfax..and as far as parts and labor for your transmission, that guys price is pretty far off... it's not an SH is it?

He said he has a friend that can do it for him (tranny). He just doesn't have the money to take care of it himself.

It sounds a little fishy so I just wanted to get someone else's opinion.

As far as the engine, he states its a 2000 h22

make sure ur getting the h22 tranny then, if ur getting an h23 or f series tranny, they'll bolt up and work just fine but ur not getting true value seeing that h23 trannies go for cheaper than h22.

4k does seem fishy, but 4400 for a running lude with 200k on the clock seems about right.
