I'm getting ready to reinstall a new water pump and of the five bolts one is about 1/4" long than the others. Does anyone know which hole takes the longer bolt? I'm going to use a little hondabond and want it to seat correctly the first time.
Basically the five bolts are oriented like an upside down star so top right, bottom right, bottom, bottom left or top left?
thanks!

LOL... one good practice to remember when working on your car...
When you take something off, put the old part and bolts aside in correct orientation (in your case bolts) so that you'll know when putting the new one on. Also, this helps when doing bigger projects not to mix some up, or end up with extra's at the end.
Some use labeled bags, I use a table with everything layed out.

well if you take a look at the water pump you would see that`s two holes that as thicker casting, so you would need a longer bolt to get the same thread length in the block.
(not easy for a norwegian kid to explain tech in english, but i hope you get the point)
