Default question.

I was looking to maybe get a Mugen valve cover because mine is starting to fade and chip. I know that a real one is like $1k, but does anybody really care if you buy a knock off one? I was gonna get a red one for $150, but if I'll get a raft at car shows for having it, then screw that! opinions?

Also, are there any drawbacks to not OEM valve covers (fittment, crappy material, breakage?)

Sorry if I sound dumb or I'm reposting (couldnt find anything)!

It only matters to the Mugen ***** purists who insist on the gunuine thing.

Why don't you just repaint or polish the one you already have?

True. The logo is in the wrong spot on the fakes, really stands out like a sore thumb.

Valve covers don't enhance your performance so who cares if its a real one or a fake one. You're always gonna have haters even if you have the real one. Your gonna have peepz say its fake, then you're gonna have peepz think its real when you have a fake one. Who cares, unless it bothers you to know its not real.

I have yet to see a fake mugen cover that has the words or japanese symbol in a different spot as the originals... they look the same to me.

I'm not going to argue that with you. You can find out for yourself here.

Why not just buy a oem red valve cover? Either way...I wouldn't spend 1k on a mugen valvecover that adds 0 hp and is just for show, you can put that 1k to something a lot more useful

IIRC, it's just the Mugen writing is moved over just a tad bit to where one of spark plug holes doesn't match up to where it should be against the writing of the original

It's 10x easier to tell the real from the fake by look at where the N in Mugen is lined up with the bottom right spark plug cover bolt/nut...

Just buy a brand new OEM Type-R one for $120 or so.

That's on my list for my new engine. Mine's all faded, almost a dark red now.

Well, I have decided that... "Who cares!" Anyone who cares where the N is positioned aboved the cover bolt is a freak with too much money/time and I could care less how they feel. but anyway, thanks for all the input, you all. much appreciated!

I'm officially going to get a "fake" Mugen one to fuel my interest and then refurbish my OEM one to be put back on whenever I feel the need! Hopefully that will make everyone happy!
