Are you having cooling problems? I posed this question to the IT guys as I was building my cooling system, and they all agreed that the OEM radiator in fresh working condition was plenty (even in my AZ heat). Many of them aren't running rad fans either. Also, the weight lost with the aluminum radiator is made up by the additional fluid it carries.

I'm just curious, since I plan to run an all metal equivalent to the OEM radiator in AZ, so we'll see how that goes.

put a duel core integra rad in from a 90-93. its hard to put the rad hoses on but other then that it bolts right in and is twice the thickness of a crx rad.

Agree with ITR 231.

A friend of mine replaced his radiator by a brand new one and his car doesn't heat at all now, the needle of the heating gauge deosn't go up at all. So unless you have real heating troubles, I wouldn't bother. Just get a stock new one.

I bought my OEM replacment for $90. So far my fans have only kicked in once. And that was when I let it sit and idle, just to test the fans.

does the teg radiators 2x thickness leave room for fans if you have a header?

Well, partly the reason why i'm running higher temps is cause I'm using a HF/DX rad (the shorter one)... dumb me.

Other problem is, i'm not running a heater core. I have the lines going to the firewall just rerouted back through the block... I'm losing a lot of "cool-down" area before it returns to the block.

I'm also in Vegas... hotter than Az but still roughly the same humidity.

I'm thinking of trying the Si rad, but don't see the improvement that I would get from an aluminum rad (not purely for weight reasons, longitivity as well).

I just installed a KOYO racing radiator. It has to be the nicest radiator I've ever seen. All hand mig welded, and 2" thick. Drops right into the factory mounts too. I believe KOYO is a HONDA OEM. I went with this mostly because my stock radiator was old and crusty.

One thing to note about the stock temp gauge. It will show the same reading from 180' to 220' without moving an inch. When I raced in the summer heat, with the stock radiator, I would see temps over 200' on my VDO gauge and the stock guage would never move, even when the temp cooled way down.

I have a pic of the radiator, but would need someone to post it.

I have a Civic DX and my Radiator is pretty huge just stock. Is a CRX one smaller or something?

Agree. the stock gauge is about as accurate as me sticking finger inline of the water and saying if it's too hot or not.

my autometer gauge works quite nicely as well... normal driving sees 190-200 temps.

I have a GSR dual core short size C&R all aluminum racing radiator. It cools well enough, but currently I want it to cool more. Turbo could use some extra cooling power.

is a gsr or type r radiator half the size of the 88-91's...cuz i know after 91 the put in those small ones...can i mount one of the smaller ones in my 91 civic...if so which raditor should i get??

my friend had a 92 teg dual core on his lsvtec...till it cracked so i gave him my old automatic dx single core radiator and he says it heats up quicker and runs alil hotter...
so i want to replace my radiator with one that cools better also..which one??

i am running upgraded BUT not aftermarket. I am using a dual core radiator from 90-91 civic ex four door automatic(NOT 5speed)the radiator is 100% honda , bolts in, hoses fit perfect but had to shim the fan shroud with a washer...this radiator is twice as thick as my original one and i like it.......but i can't say that it is inexpensive. i got it at dealer cost(advantage of being honda tech) and still it cost more than any of the generic aftermarket. if you are looking for a "performance" radiator i strongly recomend the KOYO...a friend of mine has one on his b20vtec crx and it is great . i think that summit carries the koyo ,

I have recently gotten ahold of a 97 GSR radiator along with my 97 GSR motor. Since I will be doing the swap in a few weeks, I will be replacing the radiator in orde to cool the engine. I wanted to know how I can go about using the GSR radiator in my CRX? Do I have to modify my X-member or do I have to get an aftermarket one such as Summit, Azfab, or Z10? Well, thanks for the help.
