anyone with subs.. dynamat?
has a trunk kit ever significantly helped anyone with vibration/rattling/overall sound quality of subs? i feel like when my subs are loud, something in the backseat (i drive a civic coupe) is vibrating so hard.. like plastic against plastic. but everytime i sit back there, i can't find the source because i don't hear it happening. is there something small i can do to solve this problem, or should i buy the trunk kit.. i need to know if the $75 is worth it...
If it's plastic vibrating, then no, dynamat on the trunk lid probably won't help....
You'll need to get in the back seat, crank up the tunes and find where the vibration is coming from. Then, using expanding foam (be careful with this stuff) or whatever other foam you can find, isolate the two panels from each other...

Make sure all the screw and plastic clips are there before adding dynamat. just go through all the screws and tighten up every thing you can. If you have too, replace the push in's. If the interior parts are tight, nothing should rattle.
I would not use spray foam.

To me its just not a good idea to be going and spraying foam in between the panel and the metal. That stuff can get messy real quick. plus down the road, if and when these panels needed to be removed it make the removal process alot more difficult. The idea to use spray foam is not that bad of a idea, but it could go wrong very quickly. I think that other materials could be used to seperat the panels better, such as a piece of thin speaker box carpet.

where are your subs mounted and which direction do they fire? this may give you some indication as to where the rattling is occurring but like the other guy said just turn it up fairly loud and walk around and look inside to determine where it's rattling. If you need to get a friend to put pressure on rear deck, side panels, trunk, etc. to try and locate the rattle.
Trunk kit will help but it depends on your listening style....might/might not solve the problem. I've got (2) 10w7's powered by an ARC 1500-xxk and mainly listen to EDM but even with everything other than my roof dynamated and a 2nd layer of dynamat in trunk I still get a couple rattles. I bought a couple door kits and cut 6x6" squares to affix to the sheet metal where the tail lights are located + removed the plastic on hatch and put more deadener there as well.
