im plannin to move in about 2 months to cali. i want to take my car with me. its a 94 si hatch with a 99 gsr swap. i know i can pass smog with this car. i pass texas emission with flyin colors. what do u guys think i will need to be able to have my car lagit out there in cali. i know about the B.A.R. and smog. but is there any thing else i need to do. i mean like add stuff on to the car for the gas tank and things like that. any suggestion is very apperecated.. thankz yall.
make sure your I/H has a CARB sticker on them if you have aftermarket I/H. Need to run the computer from the GSR I believe and make sure you have all the EVAP components hooked up... I know there is more.
Hopefully others will chime in

just take it to the bar hre in cali and tell them its a 95 motor and the ey will smog it as a 95. that meaning you need to run a 94-95 gsr ecu and have all the smog equipment hooked up and your header and intake are all carb legal. if its passes bar you get the sticker that you legelly smogged the motor in your car
I would invest into an alarm system as well if you do not already have one. Alot of theft going around in california. just my 2-cents

agreed...dont go cheap. My little bro just moved down to socal with me and 3 day his car was at school, theives try'd taking it. If its your DD i would def look into a alarm setup before worrying about reffing your car

I would get something that alarms a pager that goes onto your keychain..Those are handy but be ready to kick some a$$ when you catch them trying to steal your car

Dont move here if you can avoid it....not only do we have ***** for ref's but EVERYTHING is so damn expensive. I make 80k a year and it still sucks trying to get by....granted i have a nice lifestyle but if you are just stating out and dont really have a trade its a bitch
Better yet:

If you want to do it right... you need to be OBDII if you aren't allready. If not the 95 story might just work. If you can produce a reciept saying it is a 95 then that would be better. All of the emissions equipment has to be installed and hooked up correctly. They might check your timing. Your check engine light has to work correctly.
When you go to register you need three things: Title, Insurance, and a passed smogcheck. Of course your wallet too.

I just BAR'd my car a few weeks ago.
its a 99EK with a 99GSR motor.
I passed BARELY... maxxed out on the HC's but passed with flying colors on the other's.
Some Ref's know there stuff other's don't.
I went to Miramar College to have mine done and the guy knows his stuff. He checked all my Carb sticker's to verify they were for a GSR and he ran the VIN from the motor to make sure it was the correct year I said. In the end I passed so thats nice and he's not very social but he's prompt.
Having had my Integra stolen even with an alarm I suggest.
Kill switch - Fuel Pump, Starter
Alarm
Disable power locks
Re-locate hood latch
Don't have a stereo unless you bolt it do the steal framing behind the dash.
