Default built Crvtec in a 91 hatch

hey im thinking about droping my built crvtec motor into a EF. but ive got a couple of questions. i currently have the aem ems (obd1) how difficult will it be to convert the ef to OBD1? also i also want to use my ITR tranny, or would a cable tranny be better? and would it be possible to use an airbag equiped steering wheel from a teg in the ef?

what is the going price for a EF now?

TIA

how difficult will it be to convert the ef to OBD1?
Run one of my conversion harnesses, OBD1/2 distributor, 4 wire O2 sensor, and OBD1 ecu. Enjoy your day. Email me if interested in an OBd0-to-OBd1 conversion harness. Turbo_EF@yahoo.com

i doubt it would be worth your hassle to try and add an airbag equipped wheel to an EF. as for converting the car to OBD1 ( i thought it already was ) i am not the one to ask. cr vtecs and ls vtecs may not turn out to be all that great, high rpm oil starvation is causing many to blow up. you can run your ITR trans, you will need a bracket to turn your clutch cable sideways to operate the throw out arm. i am not certain if the motor mount would change on the ITR trans to the frame.

Yep you cannot bolt it in. You will have to fab up a mount to an existing kit or start from scratch.

here is the set up:
b20 block
eagle rods, endyn pistions
micropolished and ballanced crank
speed ballanced pistions and rods
Z10 block girdle
b16a head (stock)
toda b's
portflo retainers
skunk2 valve springs
aem fuel rail
aem fuel pressure regulator
jg im
toda header
PI timing belt
a nice carbonfiber Intake (about 8-9 in in diameter)
and the engine is managed my AEM EMS and my laptop (damn i got to find a cheap laptop for teh damn thing)

so now lets be serious, you dont think i can rev to 9200?

i'm hoping to rev in that range when i'm done, but i also plan on replacing the pistons, rods, rings, valvesprings, retainers, valves, main bearings, full balance & micropolish, port & polish and a valve job.

i would be surprised if a b20 stock bottom end could handle very much 8k+ driving...but i haven't tried it & won't be finding out myself!

crvvtec can be built to rev....the key word is built
important is balance of crank...b20 cranks not balanced as well as gsr or ITR from factory
i have ridden in friend's b20vtec crx and revved to 9200<on vafc NOT tach>

Type S:

Those are good mods, but what about lubrication and engine cooling? What about sleeving for cylinder walk, etc?

John is a friend of mine and does great work.

i don't want to be a downer, but that's all well and good that you can rev now, but i the B20 bottom end will fail. it doesn't matter what oil pump you have. that engine will not hold together. start looking for a gsr block soon.

im telling you its gonna last, it has been built properly.

hmmmmmmm maybe for the next block ill go with the 2.0L dart block, i saw it at englishtown, or maybe just a resleeved b20 block.

well, as soon as i find a good tuner ill put the car in its current state on the dyno, im hoping for some big numbers 215whp 150lbft .

Good luck on stock sleeves with 9200...they may last. What about lubrication/cooling? I am not talking about oil cooler or crank breather. If it is built right, you will know what I am talking about. If you dont do this mod that I am refering to, I doubt it will last at those RPMS. Ask your builder if he has left off anything for cooling/lubrication of the internals.
