Question on launching.
i got a fiberglass hood that i got from a pick a part for 26 bucks, my question here is when i launch the car it spins too much tires and it takes a while to go. (im auto h22a1) and most of the time i launched it before when i have the stock hood, it will juz be one chirp then like a jump on the line. I thought ludes are heavy so it needs to be lighten on the front because the engine is heavy.
im using 14" steel rims.
I juz need explanations about it,im thinking if i did something wrong.
thanx.

you could also try just some better tires, even drag radials. this is a problem alot of us go through at the track. getting traction is a pain in the ***. just get some better tires and make a couple runs to figure out the ideal launching technic for your car.
If the only modification you have made to your car is changing the hood then I don't think you need to worry about breaking an axle when using slicks. A stock h22 with an auto tranny isn't making enough power to worry about snapping an axle. I would suggest getting some slicks for those 14" rims. If you choose the slick correctly you can even change your effective gearing so the top speed in each gear is lower which should help with 1/4 mile ET. On my old H23 NA setup I did this and knocked off 0.3 from my ET. Slicks are necessary to hook up in FWD

Explanation: different road surfaces, different temperatures, different conditions, etc.. Too many variables and no, a lighter hood doesn't make that much difference.
i know it wont be a big difference with juz a hood. i thought u could break axles when u have slicks,if its not upgraded. juz wanted to be sure i wont break anything. and im not saying i have a lot of hp (i wish!)
i think what i need now is good tires.
