Default My car died please help

This morning on my way to work my car my car died. I was on 6th gear and it started revving real high and my speed dropped down to 50 mph. I have never mis shifted or and I do not drive my car hard at all. Within seconds my car was not drivable. I got it towed to the dealer and they said if it's the clutch, I'm out of pocket $1500. What can I do? I do not have the money to spend on that and it should still be under warranty. I do not have even 30k on the car.

Yeah you do drive like a grandma. Unless you ride the clutch a lot I would be pissed. If my clutch went out I would be pissed now and I drive my car pretty hard.

I find it odd that it just stopped working all at once while moving... No prior slipping or anything. Sounds like BS on the dealer part. What dealer did you goto anyways tukai?

I had to goto Rusty Wallis since they were the closest. I am waiting for their 1st call so it could go either way right now. There was no prior slipping to this morning.

Wow man sucks bout your car, but i would be putting up a BIG fight with honda. Ive met people who drive their civics like **** and their clutches are still fine with alot of miles on em... if they dont wanna help, talk to the svc director and than ask him for Hondas 800 customer service line.

Here is the order I would handle this.

1. Find out specific details of what happened to it.
2. if not covered under warranty call NA honda and bitch
3.if still not covered tell NA honda you wont be buying their clutch to replace in this car.
4. find out what parts you need from the dealer, and get as much of it as you can from another manufacturer.

***edit: I texted you the number, in case you didnt get it 1-800-999-1009, thats North America Honda

I got a call from the dealer ship and they are ordering parts. They have to tear everything down to see if it was my error or not. If it's my fault they are looking at $1400 to bill me. I called Honda of America and explained to them what happened and opened a claim

If they are odering parts they cannot charge you without a signature... Did you verbally agree to pay for it if they deem it as "your fault"? Sounds a little fishy to me.. If its over a certain amount (in NV its like 50 bucks) they MUST HAVE A SIGNATURE to authorize any repairs. If they do the work and try to tell you its ur fault just tell em, " I never signed **** to authorize the repair" They are SOL then.

They called me and stated that I mis-shifted causing the clutch to go out. I would swear on my kids life's that I have not done this to my car. They offered 10% off which still leaves me at about $1200 owed. I called Honda of America and am waiting on the case manager to call me back. There's no way whatsoever I did this and can not afford to pay this out of pocket. Hell I'll work weekends to pay this off at the dealership if need be.

the ECU does datalogging. Ask them to show you the mis-shift if they are so certain.

clutches don't go out because of mis-shifts... if it was that bad *** of a mis shift it would have thrown pieces of your motor thru the hood.

Dealership is full of crap. I do not believe a "mis-shift" is capable of destroying a clutch. You can destroy a clutch over time, but I don't see how it's physically possible to catastrophically destroy a clutch with a mis-shift.

A clutch will not go out because of a mis shift or excessive revs. I would ask to speak to the service manager first instead of some tech douche bag. second for our info how many miles are you looking at? third like others have said tell them to pull the data log. Also what part of the clutch has gone out? Pressure plate, clutch plate, what kind of ware, or break are we lookin at. If you have a parent around don't be afraid to go in with them if you are 25 or younger, it sucks but they may give them more respect.

oh and don't be afraid to say you are seeking legal advise if they don't play ball.

I love honda! Just the type of BS you have to deal with. Put up a fight and don't pay a cent.

Good luck.

I was right at 30k. I have no idea what could have caused this, but it wasn't my foot and no one else drives the car but me. I am not going to pay a dime if I can help it.

Did you go take pics like i said to? When they told you it was the clutch you should have said 'show me' and taken pics.

30k of driver error? Riding the clutch too much? GL with that, I've seen this happen in previous gen civics that were purchased brand new.

It still doesn't make sense how it just crapped on him while driving. They probably considered it a mis-shift because I'm sure when you are driving along and expecting your car to actually stay engaged in the gear its in, you hold your foot on the gas like normal. It probably revved to the moon before he realized the clutch ejected.

I spoke on the phone in detail with them and they are saying the dealership says this is a user error. HOA would not elaborate the data log from the ECU. I told them that there is no way that I can afford to make this payment. I have made multiple Honda purchases and that did not matter. They said if they repaired it for free whats stopping me for asking for help again. I told them i would sign an affidavit agreeing not to and would even work as a porter on the weekends and detail cars. I asked if I could have pictures of the clutch because I want to forward it to my pastor who is also a reporter for channel 4 news (Shaun Raab) and she did not want to. I told her that if they can not help me, then I can not go back to work, and the car will just sit there and I will contact my lawyer, the reporter and the BBB. They said it's a matter of it not being a warrantied item, I told them it's a matter of being a decent human and helping someone who helped others ( I help people who are trying to get into homes for the 1st time for Freddie Mac).

They have to show you pictures of it, its YOUR car. If they refuse to show you this then I would get a lawyer.
