Default Throttle Bodies

1st time poster long time reader. Theres no introduction area so I'll make a post a bit later on when i get the time to get the camera out in the ITR section.

I currently own a AUDM DC2R (B18C7). My current running gear in-terms of power mods are 5zigen 4-2-1 headers, metal cat, buddyclub spec 3 exhaust and power fc. Currently making 115.8kwatw (approx 155hp at the wheels). I'm looking at doing my intake next and I've opted to purchase the Mugen intake and I wasn't sure if it was worth while changing my TB as well. I tried searching and I couldnt find any specific or similar threads. Has anyone had any experience with BDL TB's? Atm I'm considering the BDL 68mm or 70mm TB. Would changing my IM be wise as well so everything gets tuned at the sametime? I'm only asking this cause I'm also looking at doing my cams in the near future, buddyclub spec 4 or toda b spec. I may also considering changing my exhaust system and putting in CTR pistons if required to reach my goals or a full rebuild sometime next year.

The car is a weekend car and the occasional track day!

Your opinions will be very much appreciated!

Cheers!

Plz don't take this the wrong way cause your not the first to post a "what type of throttle body should i use" thread. I just can't understand why people are getting so hung up on the bore size of the there T.B. I mean folks were talking a couple mm's here(and it's not just you, others have questioned it). At best you may yield a couple more hp going 2mm bigger.(ex. should i do a 64 or 65 or should a i do 68 or 70). Just pick one and go with it. I mean if you concerned about making power get rid of the off the shelf header(buy something with larger primaries and a 2.5 inch collector along with a 2.5in exhaust.) I mean if your building a track car and your trying to squeeze every last drop of power out of the motor i could see you wanting to factor this sort of thing in.

O.k. sorry for the rant. Now! With you particular set-up you got I'ts not worth changing. The trottle body i believe it to be 64mm and your mani. if original should be the a type r.(Which is comparable to sk2 or blox.) Save the money and buy as i mentioned before a better header and exhaust. That will yield more power and will accomidate other mods you might do down the rode.

That motor is screaming for some nice cams....BC4's, M22x's....mmmmmhhhh Toda's....they're all good. Tri-Y header would help too.

Hm... I was thinking about doing my Intake firstly before i move onto doing my cams. I also want to see how i go out at the trackday, if i get some decent times ill be willing to put a bit more into power mods otherwise more track time needed to improve my own driving skills.

An ITR throttle body and Intake manifold are already excellent pieces for high RPM power. If you were to swap them out for different pieces, you may gain or lose a couple HP...not worth spending the money right now.

What intake would you recommend? I've heard the mugen is the best one for the dc2r. Any other recommendations?

Also which cam setup would be the most ideal for a weekend/track car: BC4, Toda B Spec or Skunk2 Pro Stage 2? I'm currently running JDM ITR Cams with Skunk2 Cam gears (not dialled in), Stock bottom end.

Sorry for going a bit off topic.

There is not "best" intake cam. Every motor is different. Any one of those cams you listed will make similar power. As for intake...believe it or not, the best setup would just be a 3 inch short ram w/ BPI velocity stack and K&N filter. It's proven everytime.

Any pics of this setup? I'm looking to also JDM front my car in a couple of months too with the J's Racing intake on the front bar.
