I just bought a 1990 crx but how can I tell if it is a DX or HF/HX I don't know a lot about CRXs

 

hf will have 4 injectors dx and hx have only 2 i believe. dpfi (2 jectors) will have the tbody sit verticlay on the intake manifold where as hf will have it on the left side of the intake manifold

 

If it's an HF it should have HF on the back. Other differences would be:

HF is MPFI - DX is DPFI
HF has a lower redline
HF has smaller front brakes
HF doesn't have a rear wiper
HF doesn't have a clock in the dash
HF doesn't have a passenger side mirror

Probably more, but that should give you a good idea of which you have.

 

umm, thanks but there were only three crx's made in 1990, the si, dx, and I'm not sure which but either an hx or hf, I know it starts with an "h" I know it is not an si. I have a 5-speed transmission does that ID it in any way?

yeah all si's have sun roofs. clock mirrors etc were all extra **** you can buy from dealer.

 

one last question, what is the engine code for my motor, can I make it a mini-me? I know it is a 1.5.

 

D15B2, and yes you can use that block for a mini me set up.

 

Sorry to be a pain in the a** wronghand, I have a 99 si, I just bought this 90 CRX DX, I can conceivably purchase a head from a 6th gen civic that has vtec and use that even though it is a 1.6? Y8 I believe, because I think my head is jacked on my current engine.

 

Yes you can. You can use either the Y8 or Z6 head. Do a search, there is a lot of info on the swap. My knowledge on the mini me set up is pretty limited.
