Default Quick question before painting dealing with clear coat and rustoleum paint.

Ok I am painting my car this weekend and I am going to be using rustoleum gloss black mixing it with a 2:1 ratio with mineral spirits. I WANT to apply clear coat but I am not sure when and how to apply it and if it is even safe applying it with rustoleum? Basically if anyone has ever done this please let me know what is the deal with clear coat with rustoleum such as the steps and mixture, etc.

Thanks

you dont apply clear coat to that. it's basically a single stage paint job. no one has applied clear to it, there's no need to. if you do, you're on your own there...

for the (ridiculous) roll on method, theres no rustoleum clear coat available in quart or gallon form. And if you use the spray can clear, it will look splotchy because the rattle can clear is cheap and its not catylized automotive paint. If your car is so ugly that ANY new paint will be an improvement, then go for the $25 paintjob but I would spray it on, be it spray cans or spray gun, just use gloss enamel no clear required and 7 cans will be plenty for a small car...
