Default Mini Me Turbo HELP

Ok I have a 98 Civic with a D16y8 head, D15b7 bottem end, and the Edelbrock Turbo kit. Heres my problem I had wired in the ecu and found out that I need a voltage clamp from Edelbrock. The voltage clamp goes inline with the MAP sensor.

I haven't installed said voltage clamp yet, because I'm waiting for it to come in shipment. I have already started the car... it runs like crap. It honestly doesn't even feel like a turbo'd car, barely pulls at all. Could the MAP sensor really have this much effect on the engine?

I have searched and didn't find any results relating to my problem any help would be great.

All I really want to know is: can a MAP sensor map my car run like complete crap?

tune x2...........any cels?........i heard you're supposed to have a "missing link"/check valve for the map sensor...and in some cases more than one check valve. I do alot of reading and somewhere on here, homemadeturbo.com, or turdod16 i read you need the "missing link"/check valve for the map sensor.

Its the stock map sensor, its getting 7 psi, and the Edelbrock Kit comes with a pretuned piggyback.

Basically, when I start the car it automatically rev up to 4 grand then back down. Once its done doing that it surges starting at 11 hundred to about 3 grand. That won't stop until drive it around then it would still surge, but not as bad.

Yea I called a shop, they mentioned something about the "missing link" and said this voltage clamp would do the same thing. I do have a CEL, but it came on when the turbo spooled up seconds after I started the car (after I reset the ECU).

Yeah I did many moons ago. It ended up being that the car was running way too rich. But that shouldn't be the case for you b/c of the fact that you are only running a piggy back. Check for vacuum leaks. Fix that idle problem, get a missing link, check valves, aquarium valves, voltage clamp for now and it should run fine. But get rid of that **** in the long run b/c all its really doing is fooling the map sensor into not seeing boost. Right now the ECU is reading boost and cutting the timing and dumping the fuel b/c it doesn't know what the expletive to do with itself under boost. Get it tuned with Honcrapa or Chrom and get a boost map for the bitch, set the a/f, timing, and go have fun.

Finely, someone confirmed what I was thinking. I just wasn't sure if the map sensor could cut the timing or not.
