Default 2001 accord code 0740 any ideas or help!?!?!

my fiance`s 01 4 cylender automatic accord it has roughly 84k miles on it. it was purchased from my best friends dad who bought it new and always had it serviced and everything. its been shifting a little hard just out of 1st gear into 2nd. yesterday the check engine light came on. my step dad has a code reader so i plugged it in and the code is 0740 wich is "torque converter clutch circuit malfunction"
any ideas guys do you think this is this going to be an expensive fix?

Take it to the dealer as it may be a transmission issue. Your year and mileage should still be covered under Honda's good will policy.
