Chop Shops Found in Orlando - Daytona: Florida
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by NBC6 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">DeBARY, Fla. -- Two men were arrested on Monday after authorities said they uncovered "chop shops" containing hundreds of car parts at two Volusia County homes.
Jason Reed, 33, of DeBary, and Yeison Gerena, 25, of Deltona, were charged with operating a chop shop and grand theft.
According to Volusia County sheriff's investigators, the car parts, some of which were stolen, were discovered when officers conducted a search warrant on the DeBary home.
The house contained car parts ranging from doors, seats, engines, fenders and airbags that were packed in the home's garage, attic and bedrooms, sheriff's deputies said.
"I think our investigators were kind of overwhelmed with what they found in there," said Brandon Haught of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
Evidence found in DeBary led investigators to the Deltona home, where more stolen property was found, according to a Volusia County sheriff's report.
Other stolen property, including lawn equipment and generators, was discovered in the DeBary home, too, the report said.
The majority of the car parts came from Hondas and Acuras, investigators said.
Neighbors told Local 6 News they had no idea that a chop shop operation was being run out of the homes.
"There were a lot of cars in and out (of the home's driveway). We thought he was just painting cars for friends," another neighbor said.
"They just seemed like normal kids," a neighbor said.
Volusia County deputies said anyone who has had their car or car parts stolen should call the sheriff's office to see if the property can be returned.

It was the investigation on my stolen caR that lead them to that guy Reed's house. That's how it's justified.

I don't think Mike has gotten his **** back. Nor do I think he will. Most likely they only have some stuff out there.
I heard that Kissimee was no longer the hot spot... guess Deltona was where it was at.
In either case, Mike... LMK if there's anything I can do to help ya out bro.

I will be getting the personal items that were found and were supposed to be in the car when it was stolen, but when it comes to the actual parts of the car, I don't think they will be giving any of that to me. The insurance company will more then likely be getting the parts found.

Thats how it is usually. Insurance company takes your title, gives you a settlement. Since the car is owned by them now..any parts recovered belong to them now. They auction off these kinds of stuff.

Yeah, that's exactly what the insurance lady told me today. They'll be auctioning off the shell as well.
