Default I need advice???

Okay so i have wanted a b-series for a long time now and i finally have some money to start looking. A guy in the area is selling a full ls swap for my eg for 850 dollars and says that it needs rod bearings replaced. There is also a few B16's that might be for sale. Should i try to get a b16 and build that and get the parts to swap it in later or buy the ls and do a ls/v setup. Im assuming the b16 would be more reliable but this deal will be gone fast. Any advice will help thanks.

the Ls is going to need a rebuild. find out from the guy how bad the bearing is. if the bearing is bad enough its gonna screw up the crank.

he said it started knocking in the past 100 miles and runs like a champ. Im just saying is a rod bearing an easy fix? and its steap even know it comes with everything for the swap. shift linkage, harness, mounts axles and the motor but come to think about it i dont know if the tranny is included but its a b16 tranny. and the rebuild is ok cuz i would ls/vtec it any ways. Or is finding a b16 the better route?

i wouldnt do it. This is one of those case's where the phrease " better to do it right then twice" apply's. If you are set on a b-serie, guap up. Create a budget, parts list, and go shopping. I would just wait piece something together and have a nicely rebuilt motor for the sake of mind and performance aspects of it.
