Default need some help purchasing a new clutch

i tried to do some searching but nothing really came up about clutches.

im looking to get a new clutch. my car has 250whp and my exedy stage one clutch isnt cutting it. i was thinking about getting the competition stage 3 or 4 clutch http://shopping.lightningmotor...age=1

my friend recommended me to get the exedy hyper single but that was just way too expensive. the competition is what im leaning towards right now. would this be good for daily driving as well and not too harsh for a dd?

what would be some othe rsuggestions for a about $400 price range?

thanks for you help

I'd go with a ACT 6 puc sprung disc and heavy duty pressure plate

You're on the internet asking people how much? Come on dude...think for yourself here. Go to the website and look.

With your WHP also look into an Exedy with a three puck sprung plate.

those competition clutches are pretty good - he used to work for ACT and decided he could do better materials and design on his own.

i'd get the 6-puck sprung. call them to see which will hold up to the power you're making and buy it.

fyi clutches are rated by torque not hp. you dont need anything more than a heavy duty pressure plate and 6 puck sprung disk, anything else is gonna be overkill and not as easy to drive on the street. ACT or competition is what I would lean toward.

Personally, I think most ACT clutches are ****. I recently pulled the 6 puck disk from my tranny and threw it out.

If you're looking for a clutch that is overly aggressive for its level of bite, and chatters like crazy when hot ... that's your clutch. I personally hated the thing. 20,000 kilometers later, and a complete tranny overhaul (the disk scored the flywheel and pressure plate rendering them garbage ... not to mention snapped 3rd gear) I swapped over to Exedy and have not looked back. The difference is night and day. The ACT felt like it was made out of wood by Gypsys. The Exedy completely outclassed the ACT in overall feel.

In addition to ACT, try looking at the Clutchmasters FX300, and the Exedy Stage 2/3.

Just some food for thought
