.004 is tight what car is this on i know ls is rec not tighter then .005 intake .006 exhaust b16 and gsr are a bit tighter which may be your .004 but i believe it is about the same i will check let u know

Intake: 0.003" - 0.005" (0.08mm - 0.12mm)
Exhaust: 0.006" - 0.008" (0.16mm - 0.20mm)
It doesn't make sense that the idle get's affected by the valve adjustment
