ok so here is the deal. my buddy just got a '97 automatic single cam civic. we have a buddy with a 5spd vtec del sol that he just totaled. what we want to do is swap the vtec motor and tranny out from the single cam. I have seen read the threads on the auto to manual conversions but as far as the engine going in and to get her running correctly what all will i need to pull this off. thanks for all the help

i wasnt talking about the auto to manual swap was actually talking about the motor swap itself im not sure which variant of the b16 it is which is why i am asking in doing this swap what all parts do you need

 

you need to get motor mounts that will make a B series fit in to a 96 civic...... what else do yo uneed to know

 

ok so basically b16a3,tranny. b16a3 harness, motor mounts,**** to do auto to manual swap.

can you use the motor mounts off the del sol in the civic for the b16?

 

LOL. If you think you can do an auto-to-manual swap without trouble, getting the engine running won't be an issue, kid.

i am simply trying to get some parts list for the motor swap itself ast here are some pretty good detailed threads on that

 

you need a dif shift linkage
the del sols is to short
get the engine harness
all mounts
ecu
imo i would take the seats too lol

 

the auto to manual swap might give you more of a headache than the motor swap.

not saying this is you, but i never get why some people want to fix up their honda and go off and get an auto.

 

my buddy got the car for $500 and we are gonna get this sol for practically nothing so why the hell not you know? quick question i keep seeing that you need diffrent axles if the axles are salvagable from the sol could we use them?

 

is your friends delsol sohc or dohc delsol?

 

get the complete motor swap if its sohc vtec. you will need shift linkage from manual 92-00 civic. YOu will need a manual obd2a ex ecu or if you want to use the p28 get a conversion harness obd2a to obd1. YOu will need the front tranny bracket and will need to purchase upper manual brackets. You can reuse the auto harness or buy an 96-98 ex harness
