incredibly descriptive

since you say nothing about the year / model /etc of the car

I'm going to tell you it's on the tranny, either towards the front or right on top

Remove the intake

Look straight down a little past the dizzy you should see it - 2 bolts on either side and 3 wires coming from it

91 Accord EX, 5spd, 4door: Can someone tell me exactly where the VSS is? I've got 3 pictures/drawings (including the next-to-useless Haynes manual), and they all give a different location.

After 30 minutes of bending and peering, I'd guess that it's behind and below the dist (that is, towards the fire wall), and just right (ie: towards the driver's side) of what appears to be a transmission cable bracket. It's hidden from view, but i can feel something (but no wires).

There is an assembly on the front of the bell housing, but that looks like part of the clutch hydraulics.

I'd really like to know what I have to remove to get at the VSS. The local dealer says it's a 1-hour job for a mechanic w/ proper tools. That probably means 3 hours for me.

thx,

P

PS: Do not try Just Answers - Accord. I wasted 10 minutes there before they let on that it's a pay service. Jerks.

Exactly where everyone else has told you

It's a 10 minute job tops.

directly on top of the transmission, take off the intake and look down on top of it.

the ONLY thing that has wires going to it is the VSS.

Takes two 10mm bolts that hold it down.

Undo those and it'll come out
