please help, weird idle, yes i searched, no answers,
just like every other case, when i start up and it's cold the idle surges between 1200 and 3200 rpm, cleaned iacv.
I don't know if this could be a sign of a vacuum leak but between 2800 and 3700 rpm and push the throttle down about 40% i get this really loud whistle. also it's a 95 gsr motor. it has an intake manifold from a custom shop up in chicago, i don't know if there might be something with the dual runners or butterfly valves if that causes weird idle. Any ideas would be great. Please help

Ok, try these tricks, they might work. But try them in the order that I give them to you: Number one: This is a commonly overlooked mistake made by many experienced and unexperienced alike. Runnig from your valve cover to your IM is a hose. This is for emmissions purposes but it can significantly affect your iddle. Attached to that hose is a PCV valve that goes from the hose to the Valve cover. Make sure you have one, and if you do, make sure it is functional.
Number two: From your brake booster runs another hose to your IM. In between this hose and your IM is a ONE WAY valve. This valve is ONE WAY only for a purpose. Make sure you have one, and if you do, make sure it is functional. Blow air through both sides and it should only flow one way; that is from your IM to your Brake Booster.
Number Three: Go to HomeDepot and buy yourself a BUTANE gas cannister. You know, the blue ones plummers use to sodder. Open the cannister just a tad bit, listen to the openning for a little hiss, you dont want tooo much butane comming out. Place the opennig of the cannister around your vacumm lines, and around the throttle body, and around your IM. If the RPM changes drastically when you run the tip through any intake part, it means you have a vacumm leak there. Remember you dont want too much butane so as to kill your sparkplugs, or too little where it wont make a difference when you pass it through the leak (if any).
Good luck.,..
