Exedy Stage 2 Cerametallic Clutch Dead Already?!?!?
About a year ago I had the Exedy Stage 2 Cerametallic Clutch installed into my H22. It was the kit with a thick clutch disc, not the thin one. It's only been about a year and it's been about 30,000 miles.
Currently, It slips in the morning when it's been cold overnight and when it warms up in the afternoon it still slips with a certain amount of throttle. I should also note that the engagement point is a lot higher than it was when I first got it installed.
I haven't driven it very hard at all and I don't ride my clutch. I don't know what's wrong. Could it be that I need to get my clutch engagement point adjusted or does it sound like my clutch is gone? I should also note that I have the Fidanza 8lb Flywheel.
P.S. - This Sucks!!!

its because of the miles. racing clutches dont have long life like oem stock. i have the same clutch intsalled new over a year ago but i only put 5.5k on it and it still very good and grippy.
i actually had the same clutch on my 2000 and it only lasted about 27,000 miles...when it was taken out it was down to bare metal and didnt even ride the clutch hard, now on fidanza stage 3 so far so good
when i changed out my exedy clutch my flywheel had extreme signs of damage from what seemed to be the clutch, which was at the time was the stock flywheel. not sure if this is common with that clutch but my flywheel was badly damaged and had to be replaced, so went with a fidanza ...ended up being a sudden pricey fix clutch and flywheel at the same time

Mmmmmmmm maybe you shouldn't worry. Actually, I don't drive it that bad but I do stupid things like when I'm getting ready for a green light I let off the brake and use the clutch to keep me from rolling back. =\ I didn't think the clutch would die cause of it.
But then again I did put 30k on it. Mostly freeway driving tho =\

Actually you might want to find out how many miles that guy put on his clutch and was it mostly freeway driving or local driving.
Other than that IMO I think it's a great clutch. It gets good grip without having a super stiff pressure plate.

There's your answer.
Never understood why anyone who knows anything about cars would do that.

I'm guessing it is common with that clutch. From what people have told me Ceramic tends to wear out other metals more than organic materials. It shows in my brakes as well. I used to use ceramic pads but now switched to Carbon because I have cracks in my rotor now after about 70k miles. Not sure if the cracks are a regular thing tho.
Yeah, I kinda over estimated the clutch thinking it's a harder material and should last longer so might as well take advantage of it. WRONG!
I've actually decided to replace this clutch with the Fidanza 2.1 Clutch Kit. It has a Carbon/Kevlar disc that's supposedly the longest lasting clutch disc on the market. That and I'm only running about 185 at the wheels so... no need for stage 3.
