Default Acura Integra Type R Tranny

A friend of mine is selling this 1998 Type R tranny for $900. Beside the vin number is there any special markings I should look for? Is there a way to tell if it does indeed have an LSD? Thanks in Advance. My GSR tranny took a crap on me so I think I am about to step it up a bit

You meant 13 or 14 right? Not 3 or 4...

Anybody have a picture of an LSD stamp on their tranny? I have a JDM GSR w/ LSD and don't have a stamp.

I'd buy it for $900... Much better gearing than GSR. It would be a great upgrade. It's not bad on the highway, at 80mph, I sit right at 4,100RPM or so, and I still get great gas mileage. I drive on the highway, maybe 15 hours a week, and the gearing doesn't bother me in the least... Now, once I get my 4.928FD... Eh... I'll probably figure something else out.

Search is your friend.

When you buy a new tranny from the dealer, an ITR transmission is the exact same price as a GS-R transmission and bolts directly to the GS-R, with no problems. Part number for the ITR tranny is 20011-P80-J41. List price is $2346.15 and you can buy it from Delray Acura (or possibly a cooperative local dealer) for 20 percent off, which is $1867.58. And buying a new one means it's never been used or messed with, never been misrepresented, and it comes with a warranty.

The tranny on our '94 GS-R went out a few weeks ago (bad bearing). I bought a used one on eBay, but the tranny was damaged and had to ship it back. Got a new one from the dealer instead, and am very happy with it. I wish I had just done that to begin with.

The ITR tranny has shorter gearing for better acceleration (along with the limited slip). Theoretically, the shorter gearing of the ITR also means poorer gas mileage, but I doubt that the difference is all that much.

I know man, you know I appreciate ya! If you can get that, get it. If I send you the money for it, the auction will be over by the time my money gets to you. I'll send you money + a little extra for your interest and time if you get it.

I got a brand new Type R transmission from the dealer for $1700, $900 sounds like a good price depending on condition and mileage.
