Default NEED OPINION ON SETUP FOR MY CAR FOR GOING TURBO OR STAYING ALL MOTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 96 LS non-vtec teg with about 185K miles on it. I want to buy a new exhaust system for my car and i might just buy a header with it too. Im still unsure of what to do with my car, cuz i someone told me that getting a turbo will wear out your engine quicker (is this true??) and i was thinking of keeping it all motor but the benefit is not greater than the cost for that...im looking to have just around 200 hp, which way is better to go???

it all depends on what you want to do with the car and the driver. Are you an all motor person? or are you a turbo person?

I use my car for track, and I like even powerband as much as possible, with all response. So therefore Im an all motor person.

i will not be using my car for the track im just a daily driver...i mean i think it would be worth getting a turbo rather than keep buying small things for engine and not even get increase hp that much...I guess its basically getting a Supercharger or Turbo, both cost the about the same rite.

200hp is easier and cheaper with a turbo

If you are going to track the car such as time attack or autox, keep it NA.

You have way too many miles for FI. I would recommend a b18c1 swap which will throw you somewhere in the 200 hp range with a intake, exhaust and such. AND you would have less miles too.

Boo on a K24. Swap in a GSR engine, and you'll be good to go. If you're not going to really push the HP, get a blower. No waiting for boost, and its better for city driving, i think.

its hard to get a gsr or type r engine with low miles, so i was sayin either a k24 or what about a k20 motor.

Dawg...no disrespect, but i don think you've done enough homework to post something so general...If you're just trying to improve your quarter mile time, i recomend you get a full gsr swap off hmotorsonline.com (they have low miles). and do an IHE and then dip into some new cams...Or since you seem to be interested in FI...jackson racing superchargers seem to cooperate well with GSR motors...IHE with GSR motor and a JRSC, you can expect to run around 250-260whp if not more.
