Default time attack

first off this may not be the forum for this but it will be ok.
If you were going to build an often competed time attack car starting with an ek hatch what would you do to it. just wanting general opinions and mod suggestions. this is all just for fun. take it away.

this is a very vague answer, but I would do suspension.

*Sigh*

b18c1 swap, built and turbo'd for 450whp on pump gas, with Koni/Tokico Illumna shocks and H&R springs, Skunk2 short shifter, Exedy stage 2 clutch kit with Fidanza 8lb flywheel, A-spec ASR subframe brace, NRG H-Brace, Carbing front and rear upper struts, Falken Azeni tires (205 or 215/45/16) on 16x7 wheels of your choice....

The list could go on forever, I quit

first of all you would want a lighter car then an ek probably an eg and second you dont need alot of power especially if your on a course track a little power + light car = fast, if you have a turbo yeah you got power but if your always breaking and turning your never gonna use it... just save your money do some motor upgrades either get a B18c or B16a and do up your suspension everything that moves under the car replace it get stiffer bushings, stronger swaybars.... EVERYTHING .. if you want to be serious about it spend your money on suspension breaks and tires, then worry about power.. cause whats power with out handling/suspension/traction? its burning rubber and a waste of money is what it is

id do a lot of suspension, an mildly built b16 try to put down 200hp to the wheels (all motor). gut the back seats, a/c and a few other things. and try and make it as consistiant as possible. then have the time of my life lol.

well your not gonna get 200whp out of a B16 (easily) a rollcage isnt needed unless you get hardcore into it.. ill admit eks do look damn sexy i almost got one.... but then i came to my senses and realized that if your doin a 10sec pass with a 4cly any car looks good (thats my thoughts)

lol yes, you can get 200 hp out of a b16. it takes money. and yes i would be into it enought to want a roll cage. but who the hell wants to drive there car for 10 second? id much rather be puttin laps down auto x-ing or something. i woudnt put thousands of dollars into my car to drive it for 10 seconds. that doesnt make sense.

suspension/tires/brakes. would be your first priority if your doing time attack.

then you can think bout power.

id rather have a well balanced car that was slow rather than some high hp monster that cant handle corners.

found a pic of a time attack ek4.

have you ever been in a car faster then a 14 quater? 10 seconds is fast as hell for a little civic like this... and being that it will be street legal, its not only going to be drivin 10sec and then im done... as you see in my sig it says STREET/STRIP ... and trying to get 200whp out of a b16 isnt worth the time and money.. especially if your autoxing. and you can go ahead and drop $1600 for a cage.... cause bolt-ins are pointless you need this a 6 point custom bent, welded in cage.... have fun with that buddy

assuming this is a daily driver/weekend warrior:
koni/gc custom rates
asr brace and sway bar
password strut bars
stainless brake lines, 4 wheel disc, brembo blanks, good pads
azenis on some light weight 15 or 16's
autopower bolt in roll bar
single sparco seat with 4 point harness

why would you build a time attack car, or a 10 quart mile monster and then daily drive it? thats retarded. and yes sweet heart i have been in a low 11 second awd dsm. and id still rather take corners than drive straight. its my preferance. you dont have to like it but though ****. and when did i say anything about a bolt in cage? thats just stupid too. way to assume things. if you wanna build a street and strip car thats fine with me. but why do you have a problem with what i would build. its not yours, deal with it.

you mentioned a cage.. i said if your gonna do a cage do a real cage.. not a bolt in .... a custom cage such as mine (the one in the picture) 11 sec awd car is diffrent from a 10 sec honda (the first thing to show you .... you have 4wheels with power in the dsm, and only 2 in the honda .... there is a huge diffrence between the two cars lined up) and who said anything about it being my daily? street/strip i never said daily/strip, way to assume things.... theres nothing to deal with the diffrence here is i AM building a drag car that will be street legal... your just saying what you WOULD do... also to start i may autox my car... so ill have both types of racing down... all i gotta do is get alittle better suspension and ill be at the track takin corners .. while your at home watchin streetfire and wishin your car had a roll cage and a 200whp B16 (as you said you WOULD do)
