I have a 1990 EF Hatchback. Right now it has the stock engine and 4 speed manual tranny... the engine is blown
I want to put a D15B out of a 92-95 in there. The engine location is http://www.japanmotorimport.co...92-95
Where would the best place to get mounts for the conversion, and also what kinda tranny mount stuff would I need to do?
Yes I am kinda a newb with swaps, but not general repair =p

^^mounts for you if you wanna run the 92-95 tranny..
you don't really need any unless you plan on using the transmission from the d15b swap. the FAQ's at the top of the page has almost everything you'd ever want to know about these cars.
good luck

The D15 will bolt right into your car and right up to your tranny, just swap out the long block with intake manifold and do a MPFI swap to make it all work. It will even be fast with 4 injectors instead of the 2 it comes with stock. I do reccomend another tranny though since the 4spd basically just sucks! any 89-91 civic Trans will bolt right up, an Si or Ex 5spd is your best route to go. You can run the hydo tranny from 92-up civics but you have to buy an adapter kit to make it bolt up, not worth it imo. just use a 89-91 stock cable tranny and save the money it would cost to make a hydro fit. If I'm not wrong the Si/EX cable trannies have shorter gears than 92-up anyway and would help more with acceleration
Your best bet is to spend most of your time searching the archives on here, it will take a long time but that is how we ALL learned.
edit: I just saw the motor your talking about, save your money and just buy a used D16z6 (usually around $200-$300) and bolt it in. I am also pretty sure the auto cam in that D15 is less aggressive than 5spds (at least this is true in B-series, not sure on Ds). You'll easily spend $700.00+ on that motor shipped and it's no better than the USDM z6, pretty much just less displacement since it's a 1.5 instead of 1.6

best bet is to use your current tranny, or if youre not happy with it, another EF tranny. It will bolt up to the 92-95 engine. Im 99% sure you can use your stock mounts, someone on here told me you could. Unfortunately i havent gotten around to swapping mine yet, havent had the money, or i could help you more.
Why not go for the D16 out of the EG's though? theyre only like 300-400 dollars. Look on local forums and craigslist, theres always someone swapping their EG Si, and lots have low mileage.
*edit* ^ yeah i was right

I appreciate the responses.
I am not doing a swap to have more power. I am gonna do it cause this engine is blown and my wife would prefer an Auto tranny.
So the D15B will bolt right in... what about the automatic transmission?
Here is the engine link again.

You have to use the EF mounts. As for the automatic transmission; I guess it's the same(use an automatic EF transmission mount).
Although, if it's a STD, I know the manual transmission mount is narrower than DX or Si.
<-D15B VTEC(same as the link you posted) in a 88 Civic Std; used to be in a 88 CRX DX

by switching to auto you are looking at one hell of a headache.... stay manual and just swap in a new long block....i hate autos, thats why my TA is getting converted and my hatch is still a 4 speed(ftmfw)!!!

if u want an auto then u just need to fix and sell the current car and then buy an auto... u cant justify the expense at making ur std car an auto.... its going to be more costly than if u were making an auto a 5spd, lol. gl
