Default WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?

This weekend i took the teggy for a cruze.

it's a 96 auto with 198000 miles, clean oil not sludge, all fluids are clean, all new sensors and filters, plugs wires are newer, ngk r plugs....if any of that helps.

Driving in D, like a normal person with an auto sould be, I proceed to drop the hammer, when it is suppose to shift from 4 to OD the rpms go up to 7g's then drop back to 6500rpms, then goes back to 7g's, hazitates a sec or two then shift into OD. after its in OD the car seems to stay dorment at about 103mph.

What would cause this to accure. and are any steering parts ie. an alignment, wheel speed sensors, bearings, and or anything else not having to do with the tranny or motor cause this impefection in the driving?

and yes i understand its an auto teggy...booo... but its all i got and i want it to run right.
to me the car is all show no go, but i at least need her to put out, if ya know what i meen.

Hows the ATF in your car? Not sure that it's the problem but autos shift wierd when the fluid loses its viscosity.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ZAPATTACK009 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">when it is suppose to shift from 4 to OD the rpms go up to 7g's then drop back to 6500rpms, then goes back to 7g's, hazitates a sec or two then shift into OD. after its in OD the car seems to stay dorment at about 103mph.</TD></TR></TABLE>

4 to OD?!?! Your AT has only four forward speeds.

So, the car has a slow shift between 3 and 4 and the rev limiter is engaging?

You can't expect and automatic to handle you beating the **** out of it after 198,000 miles.

It sounds to me like your overdrive is going bad. (duh)

Depends on how long you want to keep your car, but you may need to get the tranny rebuild. Or just swap a manual.
