Broke Cam Holder Bolt
Ok... so this weekend I was planning on changing my cam seal/plug and it didnt turn out so well... It started when I went to loosen up the four bolts that holds the cam seal/plug in place... I loosened them all up and noticed one was really tight... so I gave it a little more force and it loosened up... well little did I know that I broke the bolt... I went to tighten the four bolts back down after not being able to remove the cam holder to get to the cam seal/plug off... not to mention it began raining like 5 mins after I finished putting everything back on... well when I went to torque down the last bolt I noticed it kept spinning and I pulled it out and noticed the threads on the end broke off... now my question is, is it safe to just have the 3 bolts holding the cam holder on? because to replace it, it looks like I have to take all the cam holders off and the cam then re time the car just to get to the broken bolt... and it didnt end there either... when I went to torque the valve cover back on I guess I didnt hear the torque wrench click and I kept going and it broke the middle valve cover stud...
I think im going to go to my cousins shop and have him replace the broken valve cover stud, my cam seal, and my broken wheel stud which I didnt even know about until I got my new wheels.

Dear lord. Have you hams for fists? LOL
Why would you need to pull the camshaft to pull just a single cam cap? Do you think any of the bolt is protruding from the head?

The only reason I think id have to pull the cam off is to get to the broken piece of the bolt on the head... and I cant do it either... I dont have a garage and its starting to get a little cold to start doing work outside in my driveway... not to mention its been raining for the past 3 days... I know I dont have to pull the cam off to get the to cam seal... im saying it looks like I may need to pull the cam off to get the broken bolt on the head... and im sure Honda thought that they needed 4 bolts to hold the cam holder down but do you guys think it'll be ok with just 3?.. another reason why im concerned is im going turbo next year... and I hope that it can handle the power with just 3 bolts... ill probably get it fixed when I get the head ported and polished but that wont be for a while...
pull off the cam cap should be able to get the bolt with some vice grips... if the cam cap is hard to get off use a phillips screwdriver in the hole for the bolt and move it back and forth the cam cap will pop right off...let me know how u make out
alright.. ill try that this weekend since its gonna rain for the next few days... anyone know if it will be ok to just use 3 bolts on the cam holder? also anyone know how to replace the studs that holds the valve cover down? because I broke the one in the middle.
Since the holder for the cam caps is opposite of the cam gears, it should experience the least torque. It should be fine.
The valve cover studs are a simple replacement. Look up the part numbers at http://www.sonsacuraparts.com
You can buy them at any Honda or Acura dealer.
