How to keep my JDM front teg safe from being robbed??
my girlfriend has a teg, wants to switch to the jdm front end. i keep tellin her to leave it alone because she's just trying to make her car a target. Doesn't have a garage. Will a quick release hub and alpha lock do any good?
no matter what you do to your car, if someone wants it bad enough they will find a way. the best thing you can do is put it in a garage with steel doors and weld the doors shut...of course then you can't drive the car which isn't any fun...make sure to invest in a high quality allarm. just depends on how badly you want to keep your car. by high quality i don't mean something you can get at circuit city/best buy. expect to pay at LEAST $500 for a good quality allarm installed. local stereo shops are best

i'm the same way with my wife and her k20 eg...go to a local stereo/allarm shop and have them give you an estimate. If they give you a price of "199.99" chances are, they dont know what they're doing. They should ask you questions like, do you want fuel shut off? glass break sensor? hood sensor? etc...
my personal suggestion if you're getting an allarm done request the following
Hood sensor-it's a sensor that once your hood gets above a certain height and your allarm is armed, it will trigger the allarm (if someone is able to reach in your window, pop your hood and proceed to unplug/cut your battery wires)
Glass break sensor-DEFINATE. the fastest way into a car with the windows rolled up is to smash and grab.
Trunk sensor-same idea as the hood sensor but guess what, it's mounted in the trunk/hatch area
Auto windows-Although this is somewhat of a option you may not need it does prevent the occasional leaving the windows down on accident. When you arm your allarm the windows will auto matically roll themselves up (asuming you have power windows)
Proximary (sp?) sensor-Again if you leave your window down and someone tries to reach in the vehicle it acts as a motion detector inside the car.
Other things that don't cost money.
Put your e-brake on whenever you leave the car-It may warp your rotors (depending on how you drive) but rotors are much easier to replace than your car
Turn your wheels to the side and lock your steering wheel-self explanitory, turn your wheels to the farthest point, take the key out and turn the steering wheel until it locks and you cannot move it.
This should give you a good starting point, sorry for the novel i just wrote but i've had cars stolen before and i know if i would have taken these steps i would still be driving those cars...
EDIT: after reading the below post, GPS tracker is also a great idea. I knew i forgot something in there....

--- Dope *** place for car alarms, systems etc. They are legit and good prices. I got my alarm from them w/ gps tracking etx. 250 installed. (vibration sensor, window sensor, alarm, keyless entry, 2 way LCD remote) all the basics that someone simple would want, but nothing too crazy.

again, your car is never safe...but theives do not want to spend a lot of time breaking into a car they want to be in and out as fast as possible...the more you do to "screw the theif" the better off you are. You may find your car missing a stereo or an intake, with a broken window but it's better/cheaper than the whole thing being gone...

Definately the best ways to keep your car safe. They helped me out a ton too after I got it back from being stolen.

That's a myth. You call 911 they'll tell you that you're misusing the tracking ability of the phone. It's to locate people who make 911 calls by cell. They wont give you any information and if you tell them you're dying inside your car, they'll nail you for lying.
Trunk pin?! You don't put a pin in the trunk. That would be a real pain to mount. Use the OEM trunk trigger.
Ebrake warps your rotors?! Is your house right at the bottom of a long grade? Use engine braking, damn.
Tow truck theft is very overrated and there are in fact measures that give you early warning and tracking.
Lots of bad/misleading/useless info in this thread, ie "if they really want it, there's nothing you can do". Stick to the link I gave you. The info has been thoroughly researched. It's been looked over by a guy with over 30 years experience, another guy with his own audio shop (friends of mine) and countless others. Everything is tried and true. There have been plenty of unsuccessful attempts on my car and on car's that I've worked on (I've performed stealth installs on 20 or so cars in the past 2 years).
