Default ARP head studs install. please help!!!

OK, so this might sound dumb, but im thinking if you pull the cams and what not and timing belt as usual to do a arp install. and if you drain the coolant. is it possible to leave the head on and keep the same headgasket on also and retorquing it with the new arps and not having a problem? basically im asking is it possible to not pull the head to install the arp studs? I know once th head has been heat cyclned on the block it is on there pretty good, so thsi is why i ask.

cliffs: fresh itr motor with about 40k on it, want to keep stock headgasket but put arp studs for boost. is it ok to leave head on while doing arp install?

thanks in advance

Guess you could. But why go that far and skip out on the HG? It is a good time to throw the cash up on quality piece. Cheap insurance.... but you have your reasons

well, why waste a head gasket if its seated and you didnt blow one? thats the way i look at it. most likely i will pull it off, but if theres enough feedback on doing it with the head on already, i may just do that instead. thanks for the feedback, and yea i have a headgasket already. ill most likely change it and copper spray it just in case.

thanks

you have to loosen and remove the stock headbolts anyway which will loosen the head and gasket from the block, plus when you install the arp's you want to be sure that there is no water or anything in the hole and its pretty hard to do that with the head still on the block. just take the head off and install the arp's if you want to be cheap just reuse the headgasket. i wouldnt but i've done it and it worked. headgaskets are pretty cheap now from the aftermarket. i've found them for less than 30 bucks! and they work fine. but its up to you. if you don't mind possibly having to take the head off again then go for it and just reuse the gasket after you take the head off. for 30 bucks or so i'd rather just go buy a new one
