what controlls the scondary butterflies on a h23dohc?

what controlls the scondary butterflies on a h23dohc?
OK is it just a hook up between the valve and a vacuum sorce or is there a selonoid that controls them? reason i ask is because we put the h23dohc into a sohc prelude. thanks
