Nasty Exhaust Rattle....Help!
Short of taking her to a mechanic I cant figure this out. Ive got a Comptech exhaust thats about 3 years old. It only seems to rattle after Ive been driving for a while, and only at certain RPM's like in the 3500-4000 range when I'm going slow. I'm hoping its just a heat shield, but I would think that should rattle all the time, or at least when I'm stopped and I get out to pin-point the noise while my wife hits the gas. No luck. Any advise? Thanks!
Oh, no mine definitely was coming from up front. Bang on different areas of your exhaust with a mallet or your fist, that's how I found the source of my rattling. If nothing on the exhaust makes any noise it is probably one of the heatshields. See if you can find any places on the exhaust that looks like something had been rubbing against it.
Thanks for the advise. I'm going to try to get it up on a lift at the car care center here on base tommorrow. do some banging around and see what I can find.
