yep. If your fan's not operating correctly,a good mod is to wire up a switch so you can always have it running when your car's on. Effective, cheap, easy mod.

first of all be sure that the fuse is good. then test your fan by connecting it to direct power. if it doesn't work then its a bad fan. if it does then you need to check the fan relay or the fan switch on the back of the block.

There is a fan relay, and a fan sensor/switch. The switch is located on the back of the block, there is also a relay I believe on the passenger side fender wall. I could be wrong though with the ef
i know the fan is suppose to go on and off. i mean it comes on for a second and then goes off. then it coes on for a couple of seconds and then goes off. then it will finally come on for the normal amount of time. the fan relay switch on the passenger side is behind the passenger side headlight. i dont know where the one is exactly in the back of the block.

i wasn't being sarcastic. how am i supposed to know from your "it comes on and off" description.
anyway, it sounds to me like the fan switch on the block. if you're under the car like your changing your oil it is to the left of the oil filter. it has a rubber boot on it with 2 electrical connections. replace that and let us know
