NO SPARK!! how can i diagnose the problem??
(copied and pasted from a different thread inwhich i was askin about firing order so the following paragraph is out of context....)
ok i replaced the dizzy cap and rotor and the wire; plugs are still good....and i'm still not getting spark << the firing order distracted me but my real problem is that i can get the car to start up....i tried checkin 4 spark yesturday by pluggin in an extra spark plug into the ignition wire for cylinder #1 and tha car started right up, but i shut it off to pull the spare plug out and since then the motor just cranks and cranks but no fire.....so i got new wires and the distributor cap and rotor but still no luck
the problem isnt even as bad as 1 bad distributor, my car is blowing distributors left and right!!
Read my 6th post down and please some1 help me

If you have no spark, make sure you have power to the coil, and there is a 5 volt signal power if I remember right, and if you take the cap off and the rotor turns like it did on mine, you have a broken cam.
edit: Sorry I just read that it starts if you pull #1 plug out and it runs on 3 cylinders? then you put it back it and it wont run? that doesnt sound right

its not that it only runs on 3 cylinders, it was that i was gettin no spark and when i took out the wire and pluged in another plug i actually cause a groung which lead to spark...but this only worked once and now i can do it again

Check the igniter and coil in your distributor. If I can remember right, you can swap it out from sohc's if its same ex: Tec/Hitatchi.

i dont see wuts hard about the way i type, but in short:
My spark plugs are not getting any current to them, not even a weak saprk.
So how do i diagnose the components of a distributor since the spark plugs arent receiveing any current??
in other words wut can i do to find out wut exactly went bad in my dist.; i've heard of voltage test, but have no clue on how to go about preforming those tests.

very tru
but i did go out nd buy another distributor 2day and the car fired rite up. But than after the car was sittin at idle for about 10 minutes i reved the motor and it studdarded and stalled; and now i have the same problem of no spark on a different distributor!!!
so my car is killin dizzys left and right...wut could be the problem now?? Bad 2nd distributor? Timing off? (which i doubt because then i would still get some spark) A short circuit somewhere?? (but if that the case it would of neva started up with the new distributor)
Someone please help!!

Sounds like a short. Check the plug wires, spark can be jumping from it causing a short. Make sure its pushed in all the way.
You can also get bad remanufactured parts. I've seen people go through like 4+ starters/alternators in 1 day. I wouldn't see why distributors would be any diff.
Nothing like OEM
By the way, did you wireup anything new to your car before the problem?

the 2nd dizzy wasnt remaned it was oem from a junk yard, and it did work until the car stalled.
Nope nothing new was added or removed from the car. My car was just sitting for about 3 weeks because i needed the strut fork to be able to drive it, than i was able to fix it and the car drove fine for 2 days. On the day of the problem, the car was fine in the morning but when i went to leave in the afternoon the car would not start

1st off I would take that distributor back to the junk yard and try to get it replaced. If that don't work, try interchanging parts with your old distributor ex: igniter then coil. Maybe you'll get lucky.
If it works and pops again, I would take your car and get it's electrical system checked out. Something maybe bad sending to much voltage to your igniter/coil causing it to burn.

sounds to me like an electrical problem, but rule out that you've just had a couple bad distributers before you go chasing false problems.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
yea i was told it was prob. my battery sending off to much power to the dizzy. and i planning on buy a new/referbished distributor from Autozone to see if it blows too, or to c if it was just coincedence that the 2nd dizzy was ready to go too.

easy way to see spark .. not the way they or you do it .. pull all plugs keep them in the wires lay them on the head unbolt your dizzy turn the key to on position and spin the cam key on the dizzy with your hand everytime u spin it you will hear your fuel pump priming and it will spark every time the toror passes a sonnection point easy way to see if all the plug are indeed firing try it its easy and effective..

i tried your method and i heard the fuel pump priming but got no spark at all from any of the four spark plugs........
does any1 know if there is a regulator type thing to regulate the power goin into the dizzy?? i was told that if the car has one that is inside the actual dizzy, that thats most likely the problem
