ITR tranny with LS
Okay Im putting my LS motor into my Del Sol soon. Ive got an opportunity to get an ITR tranny and from what Ive heard everyone says its only good for NA. My question is...what kind of benifits will I see from this versus my LS tranny and why is it not good for turbo applications. Do you all think it's worth it with a stock motor, aftermarket I/H/E, intake manifold, and throttle body? I do plan on rebuilding the head later on.
Dont flame...just trying to learn here fellas!

Ur LS tranny is great for turbo applications...taller gears. But yea, for all motor...shorter gear ratios is what's needed. I'd say an ITR tranny would be great if you can acquire one. LSD doesn't hurt either! Good luck!

Thanks. I think I'll pick up the ITR if he hasnt sold it yet and keep the LS in case I decide to go turbo later on.

the gears are just too tight for turbo applications. Longer gears allow you to benifit most form a turbo setup, because they give it time to spool up and everything. Maybe you could find a ls tranny and use a gsr final, or ist it the other way around, **** i dont know. anyways for turbo, i wouldnt.

Unfortunately, the guy decided to sell his hatch with GSR motor and ITR tranny in tact as opposed to parting it out. Thanks for the help though guys. I guess I'll have to look for something else.
