I am sorting through the mail when I see a letter adressed to me from the "Orange County Air Quality Board" it says:

Dear Mr. XXXXXX,
"We recieved an annonymous tip from another motorist on 5-26-02 at 1:26 am, that your car (license plate xxxxxxxx) was emitting excessive smoke. Please take care of this problem as soon as possible. No legal action will be taken at this time"

WTF!!!!!!! I am wondering what kind of loser has such a little life to nark someone off for something so lame. What happens if I get another letter? Can they come to my adress and check out my car? This big brother stuff is getting out of control. Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing?

The smoke is a black color and seems to only come out when i hit vtec, but I drive at a steady speed it is totally clean. I did a leakdown and compression check and everything checked out great. I have JE pistons and I have heard that those are infamous for smoke.

 

Yes I am running a jdm header with carsound cat. Don't know if this has any bearing on the smoke issue but compression is in the mid 12 territory and my timing was retarded to 12 also. I am running RC 310's set at 42 psi

It was me.

 

I had a similar thing happen to me a long time ago, someone called the cops cause I was speeding and they got my plate#, the letter sounded almost exactly the same. But I'm not sure if they can give you ticket or what if your cars reported multiple times. Don't worry about it.

Halo, I used to get those all the time (like once a month) They wont send no one out to look at your , but when it comes time to get your car smogged you will probably get a smog only notice on your renewal form. Dont really get on it when old people with nothing better to do are around! Also look out for save the earth bumper stickers
