Default timing issue im confused

alright well i am in the middle of doing a d16z6 swap in my 95 del sol and while i had the motor out i did a timing belt and water pump. in the process of timing the car i lined up the crank at the middle out of the 3 marks and the cam at horizontal, up, and pointing at the pointer all while the motor was at TDC. when i start the car it doenst seem to run right and when i put a timing light on it my crank marks show up underneath the car instead of where they should be at the pointer. idk where to go from here so any advice would help alot thanks.

I believe this is your problem. Those three marks on the crank pulley are for setting ignition timing. There should be another single mark that indicates TDC, and this is the mark you must use when installing the timing belt.

this is behind the 3 marks, usually white, if you can see it. check c-speedracing.com if you need reassurance. they have a how to section for a t-belt install. they are using a b-series motor but still the same concept.
