Default A crunch sound when shifting to 2nd gear.

i know there has been alot of posts about the notchiness of 2nd gear, but im not exactly clear how notchiness feels or sounds like.

anyways, for my specific problem, whenever i upshift to 2nd gear, its not always smooth, and sometimes i get this gear crunching sound as i move the thing down (i bring the shifter straight down, not towards the left), yet it doesnt sound like gear grinding.

this crunching sound is bothering me, and it is more noticable with windows down going in quiet street.

is this normal? is this the synchro working, or something wrong with it?

oh and i did tranny fluid change at 1k mile ago.

With my type S I can feel the crunch more then I can hear it. Its more a feeling of 2nd not being as smooth as every other gear then a noise. I would say if its making a grinding noise that its a blown syncro. Normally a synco mesh swap makes my car shift like butter for 6 months. What type of fluid did you use? Try GM SyncroMesh
