Replaced throwout bearing, car still makes noise when clutch pressed to floor!
In june I put a new clutch in the car, and it came with a throwout bearing, but no pilot bearing, so I bought one at the store. When I fired up the car, it was making a noise when the clutch was pressed to the floor. It sounds like something is spinning and pressing the clutch slows it down by grinding it I guess. Everyone said it was the throwout bearing, so I let it go for a few months and then the car didnt want to go into gear anymore at a stoplight, thats when I decided to replace it. Well this past weekend we pulled the tranny and replaced the throwout bearing.
The old one pulled apart into 2 pieces when we removed it, and nothing else looked bad, though I didnt really pay attention to anything other than the face of the clutch, which looked fine. When I started the car up again, it was still making those noises!!! Now I dont know what to do. Could it be the flywheel? I have a clutchmasters and I have replaced the face on it, maybe one of them is falling off?

Did you replace it or have a shop do it? Only reason i ask is because i had a throw out bearing that was broken when they took it out and they broke it again putting it back in.

try adjusting your clutch from unde the dash.....it will make a weird whining noise, you should have a little bit of slack like the first inch before you feel the tightness in the pedal.....i had this issue before due to over adjustment of the clutchd pedal........see what happens if it is too tight it makes the throw out bearing slide outward TOO far, causing some issues....
Pilot bearing, the inner race will stop spinning when the clutch peddle is depressed but the outer part will still rotate causing this sound.
You really should of replaced this when the trans was off. And you should inspect the rear main seal as well when the trans is off.

The reason I didn't replace more was because I just replaced everything down there about 2 months ago, and everyone that heard that noise told me it was the throwout bearing. I greased it up before installing it, and by that you mean rub grease all around it right? I could not actually take it apart so I have to assume that it had grease inside it already.
The noise is a lot less prevalent than before, and like I said before, the throwout bearing fell apart when we took it out of the transmission. I figure that I have at least another 3 months before I will have to drop the transmission again. But the next time I drop it I want to be sure its the last time (until I have to replace the clutch). I installed a new pilot bearing a few months ago as well, so I didn't do it this time as I didn't want to remove the clutch.
I should have took it all off and inspected everything and I have learned another lesson the hard way.
The motor only has about 3000 miles or so on it, if that, so I figured that everything would be fine for thousands and thousands of miles, but I guess the joke was on me, because that tranny is becoming a pain.
