Default Need help with painting my grill

I want to paint my grill. What i want to know is do i have to scrape the chrome off the plastic or can i just paint right over that? I want it to have a flat black finish so what primer/paint should i use? thanx

sand all the chrome real good with 400 then prime it and sand the primer with 400 then make sure its clean and spray it.

Do i have to sand the chrome completely off or just to ruff it up so that the primer and paint will stick?

I've just sanded to scruff it up with 400 primed, sanded again with 600 or 800, then shoot.
