So I just picked up a 90 si, and the paint is badly oxidized, and I want to know if I can use anything to try and restore the paint til I get it repainted?

Also what is a good budget for a full paint job? I want to keep it black, but with a nice sheen to it. is 1200 too much or little for a quality paint job, or is it dependent on the shop I take it too?

 

you want a good job it will def be closer to 2. if you want a decent job 1200 can cut it

 

depends on how badly oxidized it is.. if its still oxidized only in the clearcoat u can try to wetsand it with maybe 1500-2000... then move up to 3000 and then use a buffer to polish back to a shine...

 

thanks for the info, I will get some pics later, but from what I can tell it's just the clear is shot. I will try and the wet sanding and polishing. any recommendations on wax?

 

You can reclear it possibly. I don't know what macco would charge they might be your cheapest bet.
