all motor 8 valve
always a fan of the underdog... bump for some all motor guru's opinions on the matter.
anyone know of anyone runing the 8 valves or perhaps have 1/4 mile times or somesuch?

having rebuilt both b-series vtec motors and d-series 8 valve motors, i'd say good luck.
car motors are essentially air pumps, they suck air in, mix with fuel & combust, and then spit exhaust gases out. the b-series obviously has twice as many valves for this, but they also have huge piping and ports when compared to the 8-valvers. look at the throttle body and manifolds, as well as the head ports of a d15b8 for example. even if you bored them out (or replaced them with bigger aftermarket units) you would still only have 8 valves to move the air in and out of the combustion chamber. you would be very limited with what you can do and how much power you can make, in my opinion.

i think a stock cx ran about a 17-18 second quater. 70hp, 90lb/ft tq.
i remebr a thread from a while back about how the cam profile determined a lot of the power characteristics of the engine (VX)
and like how a good cam in a VX VTEC-e motor would really bring it to life because it had (not totally sure about this part) solid lifters?
