I had originally purchased a resistor box on the forums and it didn't work. I ended up going to radio shack and picking up some 10W 10ohm resistors for the 1000cc injectors and soldered them inline. I've noticed around 10 min. after the engine gets up to operating temperature the car acts funny. I've popped the hood to check them out and noticed that the electrical tape i have wrapped around the resistors gets really soft gooey, if that's a word. Curious if that heat would affect those resistors at all and make the engine run like crap.

 

they shouldnt i run them in my DD and i ran them in my last DD for 2 years with no problems 1000cc tend to idel funny anyway and it could be in your tune to

 

I just figured heat might affect them being so close the cylinder head.

 

what side are they soldered in on? just out of curiosity?

 

the condition of your electrical tape is not an indicator of the performance of your resistors, just the temperature that was achieved.

But temperature can certainly affect the resistance of a resistor. if you can find a data sheet for that particular resistor online you should see at the very least a plot of resistance tolerance vs. temperature. even the cheapest resistors should be good to about 150F with 30% tolerance. Granted your engine bay can see alot more than 150F and 30% tolerance is pretty crappy.

if you want something of higher quality, you can search on digikey or something for exactly the resistor that you need, specifying temperature range, tolerance, etc. and you can view data sheets for each product.

 

says they are rated up to 70 degress Celsius which is 158F
