It just a light that flashes, i think. It must not do a whole lot because when you get an AFT radio it will be gone.

well it is not really an alarm it is but it is not, it is more just a keyless entry system i don't think there is really anything i have ever seen done to make a stock civic alarm go off not even one being repoed with the door locked and the little red light flashing, u tell me have u seen one ever go off without pushing the panic button lol

sorry to burst the bubble but that flashing red light is not part of an elaborate alarm system. Its listed as an "anti-theft deterrent"

basically if someone looks in it seems like there is an alarm.
and when you double tap your keyless entry the horn honks making it seem like there is an alarm activated as well.

believe it or not...that red blinking light actually lowers your insurance costs.

well. I have a factory installed alarm/keyless entry on my car, 05 civic, made by "silencer" mod-id: ELVMT1A and my alarm does go off, I was doing a brake job on it the other day and the alarm went off my taking off my wheel bolts..it was just the horn Honking and lights going off but it works....also if the door is opened if the window is down, and unlock it from the inside and open the door, the alarm goes off too, also when the window is tapped as well..it make a rapid honking noise...and it stops..sort of like a warning..

Mine didn't have any type of remote to unlock the doors its just a key and I had the red blinking light...maybe someone lost my remote before I ever got the car?? lol Don't know and don't care just figured the blinking light was a "dummy light" just there to ward off preditors...lol
