Default Very Poor blower performance?

Hello,

wonder if anyone can help. My 1997 civic ek4 vti (uk model b16a2 engine) has very, very poor blower performance. THen fan seems to be operating with full power as it can be heard ''whoosing'' in the footwell.

However, only a very minimal amount of air seems to be reaching the vents, no matter what option is selected?

Any ideas what this could be- i was thinkin maybe a blocked pollen filter or something? At the moment i have removed all the dash, metal bar etc but cant find the pollen filter..

I'll give that a bash now mate.. anywhere else i should look for leaves etc? I presume that the blower motor is that black thing on the bottom held on by a few screws?

I'll go and remove it now

Blower motor now removed. Blower motor had a small number of leaves in it- nothing i would think that could be soley attributable to the loss in blower performance expereinced.

Is there anythin else i should do or check/clean before putting every back together and testing it?

I would try plugging in the blower while it's out, and making sure that it's running full speed. If so, then you have a clog, most likely in the vents inside the car.

If it's only doing it while you have it on fresh air, then you could have a clog under the cowl cover.

Where about should i look mate?

Update; Everything is put back together now, this has increased blower performance slightly. A little more air is now coming through- but it is still only about 10% of what it should be.

Is there anywhere else leaves or other debris could have accumulated?

I'm not too sure about it for the Civic, but I'm pretty sure you'll have to remove the glovebox and maybe part of the dash to access it.

the filter on my heater core was clogged.. maybe it was just the heater core itself. but on cold it would blow hard.. on hot it wouldnt blow very well.. took the cover off nd blew it out.. problem 50 percent better... so i left it haha

All the settings work fine mate. Ie.. the fan speed can be increased but no additional air flow occurs, but the fan is defiantely increasing.. the air is just not coming out.

I have got a diagram of where the pollen filter is now and i'm going to go remove it- i hope this is the filter everyone is suggestion i change. I don't currently have a replacement- is it ok just to remove it and see if it works better? I'll be able to get a new one form honda tomorrow.

Cheers for the help lads
